Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in creating accessible web content and/or creating accessible documents. Knowledge of current federal accessibility standards (section 508/WCAG 2.0) and commonly used tools to validate accessibility is critical. Experience using tools to remediate non-accessible documents and web content as well as leading others in this process is critical. Knowledge of commonly used assistive technologies is desired. OR BA/BS Degree in Website Management/Information Technology.

  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point
  • Software for 508 Compliance (experience with using accessibility scanning tools and interpreting the results desired).
Duties:

Position will be responsible for developing and leading implementation of a plan for ensuring the nass.usda.gov website (pages and documents) is compliant and accessible to all users, both now and in the future, as specified by the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The incumbent must be knowledgeable of current federal web standards, proficient in software and tools to identify and remediate existing non-accessible materials, and have skills to train staff to create accessible and compliant documents and web content. This will involve managing change to achieve widespread adoption of best practices to enhance accessibility of our digital platforms.   • Develop and lead implementation of a plan and governance for ensuring the accessibility of nass.usda.gov website content and that documents are compliant with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act   30%
  • Identify and remediate current non-accessible documents and pages   25%
  • Recommend tools for creating accessible materials and train staff to develop accessible content   35%
  • Check materials for accessibility before they are posted to the web   10%
