? This position supports Petroglyph National Monument of the National Park Service. ? The NPS Experienced Services Program is a unique partnership created to help solve the workforce issues facing government agencies. The program connects experienced workers (age 55+) to the NPS to provide scientific, technical, and administrative support. ? NPS ESP positions are meant to provide temporary, project-based support. This position is currently funded for an estimate of 32 weeks. A graduate degree meeting the Secretary of the Interior?s Professional Qualifications for Archaeology is required for this position. ? A background security investigation may be required prior to the start date. Only those positions with 30+ hours per week are eligible for health insurance benefits; all positions will accrue sick leave. ? The experienced workers participating in the Program are referred to as ?Enrollees? and are not employees of the NPS or NEW Solutions. NEW Solutions is the ESP non-governmental organization responsible for administrative aspects of the program, and the Enrollees work under NPS direction to assist the Agency staff in carrying out their mission. NPS ESP Enrollees benefit from the opportunity to keep technical skills current; to access new training opportunities; to engage in gainful project-based positions; and to undertake meaningful tasks using their experience and talent to contribute to the environment, the national economy, and their own financial security. |
Qualifications:Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in construction inspection OR BA/BS Degree in Facility Design and construction field or similar. - Must have some (COR) Contracting Officer's Representative experience & Project Management or similar.
- Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
Duties:Serves as a Construction Project Inspector in the Division of Facility Management of Petroglyph National Monument and is responsible for providing inspection services and oversight of the construction of the new Escarpment Trail Connector Project. - Inspects Trail construction project for adherence with contract documents and industry standards. 65%
- Communicate daily to COR and Project Manager on status of work and any concerns, issues that need to be addressed. 10%
- Communicate daily to COR and Project Manager of any deficiencies when not in compliance with the contract. 10%
- Leads/set agendas for construction meetings and compiles meeting minutes. 5%
- Track and route submittals/RFIs, review & provide recommended responses for submittals/RFIs. 5%
- Reviews preliminary design, design, and construction documents (drawings, specifications, special studies/reports) for constructability. 5%
Other:- NPS systems and processes
- Required Safety Gear: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for inspecting construction site.
- Physical requirements: Ability to navigate construction site during the spring, summer and fall months. The trail is one mile long and would need to be walking the entire distance and back daily.
