? This position supports the U.S. Park Police of the National Park Service. ? The NPS Experienced Services Program is a unique partnership created to help solve the workforce issues facing government agencies. The program connects experienced workers (age 55+) to the NPS to provide scientific, technical, and administrative support. ? NPS ESP positions are meant to provide temporary, project-based support. This position is currently funded for an estimate of 31 weeks. ? A background security investigation may be required prior to the start date. Only those positions with 30+ hours per week are eligible for health insurance benefits; all positions will accrue sick leave. ? The experienced workers participating in the Program are referred to as ?Enrollees? and are not employees of the NPS or NEW Solutions. NEW Solutions is the ESP non-governmental organization responsible for administrative aspects of the program, and the Enrollees work under NPS direction to assist the Agency staff in carrying out their mission. NPS ESP Enrollees benefit from the opportunity to keep technical skills current; to access new training opportunities; to engage in gainful project-based positions; and to undertake meaningful tasks using their experience and talent to contribute to the environment, the national economy, and their own financial security.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 15 year(s) of experience in armorer field OR AA/HS Degree

    Duties:

    Serve as an armorer, maintaining the current USPP firearms inventory. This position will require a security clearance.

    • Conduct annual maintenance on the USPP firearms inventory.   70%
    • Prepare weapons for upcoming classes.   30%

    Other:
    • Applicant will be required to maintain armorer certifications when they expire.
    • Required Certifications: Sig Sauer Armor for multiple lines of handguns Smith and Wesson Armorer Glock armorer Ruger armorer Benelli armorer Springfield arms armorer Remington armorer Other firearms armorer's certifications as available.
    • Travel Requirements: Occasional trips to gain and maintain certifications may be required
    • Overnight travel: Occasional trips to gain and maintain certifications may be required
    • Air travel anticipated: Certification classes may be located in an area that will require air travel
    • Rental cars: If air travel is required, rental cars will also likely be required
    • Health and Safety Considerations: Firing weapons on an indoor range will expose the individual to lead. Prior to any range usage the applicant will be required to complete Lead Safety Awareness Training.
    • Required Safety Gear: Eye and Ear Protection will be provided.
    • Safety Gear Use: While at the range.
    • Physical requirements: Ability and dexterity to handle firearms.
