NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). These experienced professionals provide administrative, scientific, and technical support to the Environmental Protection Agency through the Senior Environmental Employment (SEE) Program.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 15 year(s) of experience OR BA/BS Degree in Physical Sciences and Engineering

  • Extensive understanding of complex policy and regulations.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access
  • Air pollution control and monitoring equipment, audio and visual equipment for presentations
Duties:

This position is 100% remote. Incumbent will work from home while preparing for training courses and travel to required locations to conduct training courses. Hours fluctuate between 40 hours/week while preparing, conducting and traveling for training courses to zero hours during the less busy times. Main duties involve conducting and developing training programs to enable Federal, State and local air pollution control districts to execute the Clean Air Act as well as state and local level regulations. These training programs will involve expert level interpretation and evaluation of real world examples of common air pollution problems found in the field and giving expert advice and recommendations to students on the best course of action to produce the best outcomes for all parties. Incumbent works with state and local air agency staff and key external stakeholders from multi-jurisdictional organizations. This work must be done with minimal assistance or review.

  • Develop and deliver training courses.   40%
  • Perform mock inspections as part of training courses.   30%
  • Analyze state specific rules and regulations as they relate to training materials.   10%
  • Identify and assess pre and post course examination questions and conduct post course evaluations.   10%
  • Attend meetings and trainings in support of these duties.   10%

Other:
  • Basic health/safety training provided prior to observing a compliance inspection
  • Computer and presentation skills.
  • Overnight travel: 4-6 nights a week/once per month
  • Air travel anticipated: One week a month
  • Rental cars: One week a month
  • Health Safety Training: Enrollee subjected to breathing fumes (dust) and other pollutants by observing refinery and oil production inspections
  • Health and Safety Considerations: Equipment and safety training as required
  • Required Safety Gear: Hard hat, safety goggles/glasses may be required, worn and would be provided to the enrollee as well as any additional required safety training.
  • Safety Gear Use: For training inspections.
