For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States.

NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the National Park Service (NPS). These experienced professionals provide administrative expertise, facilities management, natural and cultural resource planning, and a broad array of other professional skills that support the National Park Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).

Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

PLEASE NOTE: An ?Enrollee? is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NEW Solutions. An ?Enrollee? is a participant in a grant program established through a Cooperative Agreement funded by the agency and administered by NEW Solutions.

Duration

This position is funded for up to 2080 total hours.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in Interpretation and 10 years of experience in partnership collaboration OR BA/BS Degree in History, Interpretation, Communication or related

  • Experience with the science of Interpretation, Management and evaluation of Volunteerism programs, Community experience, foundation documents and interpretive plans
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, MS Outlook, MS SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat
Duties:

Serve as an advisor and mentor to all levels of staff and leadership in the field of Interpretation, Education, and Volunteerism. Will participate in strategic planning for programming, exhibits, volunteerism, and staff development.

  • Work collaboratively to develop and revise interpretive programs, media, and digital content related to the enabling legislation.   25%
  • Utilize joint partnerships to engage in Interpretive Strategic Planning for new and rehabilitated park interpretive sites   25%
  • Provide interpretive subject matter expertise and technical advisory support to NPS units and external partners for creation of interpretive offerings. Work includes historical research, partner collaboration, site visits (travel), and formal interpretive presentations.   25%
  • Manage and evaluate volunteer programs and serve as advisor to park volunteer ambassador   25%

Other:
  • Overnight travel: Anticipate up to one week of travel per month, 2?5-day trips.
  • Air travel anticipated: 2-5 day trips, up to once per month
  • Physical requirements: The position is primarily sedentary with occasional visits to partner sites throughout the United States. Walking/hiking as part of site tours may be required.
