The Metadata and MRS enrollee serves as a core advisor on data structure, metadata strategy, and quality-review practices, helping NASS teams design and maintain clear, consistent, and well-organized data resources. In this role, the enrollee provides guidance on how data elements, categories, and relationships should be defined and documented so they remain coherent and usable throughout the entire data lifecycle?from early design stages through production, review, and final release. This position offers specialized insight into metadata standards, hierarchical structures, classification approaches, and cross-domain data relationships that support NASS?s statistical products. The enrollee helps enhance data quality by developing and refining metadata tools, structured groupings, relationship maps, and documentation resources that analysts and subject-matter experts use to better understand and evaluate complex agricultural data. Responsibilities include supporting both automated and manual review workflows, identifying irregularities, resolving category or structural misalignments, and strengthening consistency across data outputs. The enrollee works closely with program teams, IT partners, statisticians, and leadership to ensure metadata resources and review processes are clear, aligned, and reliable. The role also contributes to NASS?s broader modernization efforts?such as AI-enabled review systems, improved metadata repositories, updated documentation practices, and enterprise-wide data quality initiatives. Throughout this work, the enrollee follows confidentiality, security, and accessibility requirements and plays an active part in reinforcing strong data governance and continuous improvement across the organization. The enrollee shall not sign federal documents, authorize the use of federal funds, nor initiate or conduct federally funded research projects. The enrollee shall not author articles for publication as a federal employee, nor coordinate scientific research between the Government and private industry. The enrollee shall not present themselves as a Government employee or Government representative at meetings both foreign and domestic or when coordinating federal agencies? areas of research. The enrollee shall not make decisions on federally based research on behalf of Government policy makers, and the enrollee shall not supervise any Government employees.

• Maintain and update metadata structures, item relationships, hierarchical classifications, and domain definitions used across NASS statistical programs.   25%
• Develop and refine metadata documentation, including item groupings, category definitions, ratio structures, cross-table relationships, and structured analysis guides.   20%
• Support MRS data review activities by conducting anomaly detection, cross-table consistency checks, aggregate-level evaluations, and structured comparison workflows.   20%
• Collaborate with statisticians, branch/program staff, and IT personnel to ensure metadata resources align with program needs, agency standards, and evolving methodologies. Provide training, reference materials, and technical guidance to analysts and staff on the use of metadata resources, review tools, and structured evaluation processes.   20%
• Build and maintain metadata tools, reference tables, and review aids that improve analyst workflows and support consistent evaluation of Census and survey outputs.   15%
