Ability to determine visitor eligibility for the sale of various interagency park passes. Ability to process actions involving multiple transaction receipts such as upgrades or refunds.

Duties:The enrollee will serve as a Recreation Fee Technician in Pu?uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park and will perform a variety of duties including collection, deposit, tracking, and expenditure of fee revenue and donations collected from the public under legal authorities such as the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act. The enrollee will carry out a wide variety of clerical and technical assignments that involve the application of fee program knowledge and the policies, procedures, and practices of fee collection. The enrollee performs assignments in accordance with all regulations governing the handling of government funds and separation of duties. - Provide current and accurate information and excellent customer service to visitors concerning the NPS area and other surrounding areas of interest. Explain the area?s recreational opportunities, including NPS interpretive services, wilderness/backcountry permits, concession operated facilities and services, campground availability, hiking trails, etc. Distribute maps, brochures, and other printed material, inform visitors of potential safety hazards, and provide directions and routes of travel. 20%
- Collect appropriate fees at a park entrance station, visitor center, campground, fee canister, AFMs, donation boxes, and/or other visitor contact station(s) in accordance with established accountability guidelines for handling government funds. The amount to be collected is easily calculated and predetermined and the funds collected will be controlled using standard case management techniques. Determine visitor eligibility for the sale of various interagency park passes. 20%
- Operate an electronic cash register, computer, tablet, smart phone, or other POS system to conduct financial transactions. Perform opening and closing shift functions. Issue entrance receipts, tour tickets, permits, park passes, and/or federal recreation passes in accordance with established guidelines. Verify entrance receipts and various passes for validity dates and ownership. Process refunds or upgrades as needed according to established guidelines. 20%
- Complete shift reports to verify money collected, accountable stock sold, and all machine transactions from the shift, using shift accountability, receipt tapes, and a register of refunded andvoided transactions. Safeguard funds collected and accountable stock under the enrollee?s control. 20%
- Use automated reservation systems to process routine, simple payments, transactions, and reservations for campgrounds, tours, tickets, backcountry permits, Special Use Permits, etc. Explain rules and regulations to reservation holders and disseminate park information. 15%
- Utilize fee program related technologies and equipment that include hardware, software, and peripheral devices such as hand-held devices, computers, POS equipment, tablets, mobile phones, scanning devices, AFMs, and reservation systems in accordance with established guidelines. 5%

- Health and Safety Considerations: Health and safety concerns involve working in a hot/humid climate, standing for long periods and performing repetitive physical tasks. Training will be provided to mitigate these conditions of the job.
