NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the National Park Service (NPS). These experienced professionals provide administrative expertise, facilities management, natural and cultural resource planning, and a broad array of other professional skills that support the National Park Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).

Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

PLEASE NOTE: An ?Enrollee? is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NEW Solutions. An ?Enrollee? is a participant in a grant program established through a Cooperative Agreement funded by the agency and administered by NEW Solutions.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in Law Enforcement OR HS/GED Degree OR Previously completed training in Law Enforcement

  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of National Park Service Director?s Order and Resource Manual 9 and other manuals and policies.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, MS Outlook, MS SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat
Duties:

The enrollee will use prior law enforcement knowledge to develop the park?s jurisdictional inventory and draft agreements between the NPS and local law enforcement and fire in compliance with laws, regulations and National Park Service policies.

  • Draft a jurisdictional inventory for the park that lists and explains the applicable State and local statutes, general agreements, lands withing the specified park area, and related local or regional issues that impact law enforcement authority.   60%
  • Research and develop draft letters or memorandum of agreement between the NPS and local law enforcement and fire in accordance with existing laws, regulations and NPS policies.   30%
  • Review and update park?s compendium for clarity and to ensure it meets NPS standards.   10%

  • Required Certifications: Law enforcement training; credentials, experience and training should be identified in resume.
  • Overnight travel: Overnight travel could be required, depending on enrollee location
  • Air travel anticipated: Depending on enrollee location, air travel may be required
