NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). These experienced professionals provide administrative, technical, and professional support to the U.S. Geological Survey U.S. Geological Survey through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).

Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in Budget Management OR AA Degree

  • Professional knowledge and experience working in the budget section for a USGS Water Science Center. Experience in working with DOI financial systems and understanding of the USGS Water Science Center operations.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, MS Outlook, MS SharePoint
Duties:

Provide assistance in budget management that are critical for managing a Water Science Center. Assist on managing financial items agreements including, but not limited to: processing reimbursable agreements, billing, credit card reconciliation, and labor adjustments. Assist in training any new admin budget staff once hired. The Upper Midwest Water Science Center is committed to providing reliable and unbiased information on water resources to the public, partners, and stakeholders. Our broad data collection network and research provide timely, useful information to keep the public informed, protect life and property, and improve our understanding of water supply and availability across Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin and adjacent states. Maintaining administrative functions is key to the success of the Center. The Center has 3 primary offices located in Madison, WI, Lansing MI and St. Paul, MN.

  • Provide services on managing financial items agreements including, but not limited to: processing reimbursable agreements, billing, credit card reconciliation, and labor adjustments to ensure continuity and stability of Center financial section   70%
  • Provide services on budget related activities for a Water Science Center for the Center Director and Center Section Chiefs   20%
  • Train potentially new Center staff on different administrative tasks.   10%
