These experienced professionals provide administrative, scientific, and technical support to the Agricultural Research Service through the Experienced Worker Program (EWP). Qualifications:Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in web content management and/or social media. OR BA/BS Degree in journalism, writer, education, public affairs. - Strong communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills; ability to work independently or as part of a team and meet tight deadlines. Ability to edit and update web content on Drupal and SharePoint Online platforms, comprise and deliver Granicus messages, build new webpages, edit content on the agency websites, create imagery for social and web, and write content for social media and web. Ability to handle multiple projects with varying deadlines.

Duties:The work is in the ARS Office of Communications Digital Media Branch and includes managing, preparing, and publishing digital content for the ARS public facing websites and the agency intranet, ensuring accuracy, clarity, accessibility, and timely updates. The role maintains information architecture and user experience while developing and preparing content using platforms such as SharePoint Online, Drupal, and Granicus. Responsibilities include producing and publishing web-ready digital media and coordinating content with program managers and technical writing staff.
The specialist ensures quality assurance, fixing or coordinating corrections for broken links, outdated materials, and usability issues. Additional duties include completing Axon+ updates, creating digital news posts, assisting with incoming requests and workflow tools such as Microsoft Lists and Forms.
This work ensures ARS digital platforms deliver accurate, accessible, and timely information, supporting effective communication, public visibility, and overall organizational efficiency. Work is performed under the general oversight of the Digital Media Branch Chief.
