For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States. NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the National Park Service (NPS). These experienced professionals provide administrative expertise, facilities management, natural and cultural resource planning, and a broad array of other professional skills that support the National Park Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP). Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee. PLEASE NOTE: An ?Enrollee? is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NEW Solutions. An ?Enrollee? is a participant in a grant program established through a Cooperative Agreement funded by the agency and administered by NEW Solutions. The Campaign for Historic Trades is a national workforce development program, dedicated to expanding and strengthening careers in the historic trades. The Campaign sponsors a Registered Apprenticeship Program and works with partners to implement training, education, and career paths. |
Qualifications:HS/GED Degree in Experienced traditional tradesperson, project manager, construction, similar with minimum additional experience of 20 year(s) in historic preservation, woodworking and/or log and shake roof construction, carpentry, project management, training - Must be skilled in the materials and methods of historic wood building construction
Duties:General duties will consist of mentoring federal staff to lead project teams through project development, delivery, and historic preservation. Duties will largely fall with the field of traditional roofing and historic preservation. - Project Management; Coordinates with staff on repair requirements and design for historic preservation. Helps implement plans for historic preservation projects. 10%
- Serve as the technical expert to assist in training others in specialized roofing and preservation skills. Work in a team implementing roof restoration and associated tasks as a part of training. 70%
- Serves as a resource of technical expertise for federal staff. Within their expertise, the participant answers questions, creates and provides training, and provides preservation and project management support for colleagues. 20%
Other:- Overnight travel: 1 trip
- Health and Safety Considerations: Scaffold Erection and working at elevation, demonstrated through work experience
- Required Safety Gear: Scaffolding, hardhats, protective work clothing, eye protection; as needed ? work gloves, ear protection, and face masks.
