Responsible for providing advice and guidance to the Director of the National Animal Disease Center (NADC). Role includes mentoring and training when necessary and appropriate. The enrollee shall not sign federal documents, authorize the use of federal funds, nor initiate or conduct federally funded research projects. The enrollee shall not author articles for publication as a federal employee, nor coordinate scientific research between the Government and private industry. The enrollee shall not present themselves as a Government employee or Government representative at meetings both foreign and domestic or when coordinating federal agencies? areas of research. The enrollee shall not make decisions on federally-based research on behalf of Government policy makers, and the enrollee shall not supervise any Government employees. • Advise Center Director, Deputy Director and core facility (microscopy, histo-technology, electron microscopy, genomics, flow cytometry) in operations and strategic direction.   40%
• Advise scientists and technicians on research experiment plans.   25%
• Advise the core facility on maintenance of equipment, consideration of new equipment and projects with others in the USDA or externally and with training   20%
• Advise on safety regulations, service efficiency, quality control, records, policies, guidelines.   15%

• Health and Safety Considerations: Chemical safety due to the laboratory area handling tissues fixed in formalin and other histochemistry chemicals in that laboratory.
