Qualifications:

Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience OR BA/BS Degree in Agriculture, natural resources, agronomy or related field of study

  • Skilled, licensed operation of side-by-side UTV and small motorboat required. Experience with complex project management and oversight including interagency partnerships and collaboration. Strong communication skills and experience with sometimes tense discussions around complex natural resource and engineering problems/opportunities.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point
  • Mobile Software Tools Project Management Software or ability to learn
Duties:

The Gifford Pinchot National Forest requires two individuals to assist the Spirit Lake project manager and team during staff transition and gaps in capacity. These individuals will complete work assigned by the Project manager in support of ongoing operations and maintenance, and long-term lake outflow analysis.

  • Support Spirit Lake Outflow Safety Improvement to include project planning and coordination, project communications, preparing documents and products, and mentoring of project manager and other staff.   40%
  • Develop planning, operations and implementation plans to support inspections, repairs, data acquisition, site visits and other activities which require project planning and coordination, deliberative risk assessment review, emergency contingency planning and other required documents.   20%
  • Participate and mentor FS staff in field-going implementation to include UTV and workboat operations and overnights at remote field camps.   15%
  • Plan specialized training and assist in the oversight of operation experience in Forest Service boat operation, trailer operation, and UTV operation licensing for team members.   15%
  • Prepare briefing documents and presentations as needed.   10%

Other:
  • Required agency training (annually): Security, FISSA, Civil Rights related training, etc. Annual certification is required.
  • Training opportunities based on availability; opportunities to virtually attend conferences, presentations and trainings would be considered.
  • Overnight travel: Multiple day trainings or field visits could occur. Typical amounts not to exceed one week
  • Health and Safety Considerations: Valid driver?s license, Confined spaces training and certification, helicopter safety training, UTV and boat certification, etc. Required to participate in annual risk assessment and documentation with Monitor.
  • Required Safety Gear: USFS-supplied hard hat, safety vests, life jackets, waders, helmet; Enrollee provides boots, gloves and other personal gear.
  • Safety Gear Use: Personal safety equipment would be required in the field, most hazardous locations would be in the vicinity of the Spirit Lake shoreline and tunnel, and transport to and from worksites.
